And it really is.....Disneyland I mean. I know I haven't posted in a while, and in fact I thought I never would, but sometimes you just gotta post. Anyways, I'm one day into my first business trip. I'm in Huntington Beach California and it's very cool. The plane ride from Houston to Dallas was probably the worst I've ever had, and the delay in Dallas was a bit inconvenient, but from then on it was smooth sailing. I arrived in Santa Ana at around 8:30, California time. I have a room at the Woodfin Suites. Honesly, it's not nearly worth the $105 a night rate. It's just a king size bed and a TV, and that's it. Nothing to shout about.
The Boeing complex is very big. It's got this HUGE Boeing sign and the property is roughly the size of half the University of Houston. The main building, also the IDS building, is very nice. Unfortunately, my team is moving to another of the buildings. This one is a windowless hangar, but it's still pretty cool. It was suggested by Jeff Kawana that I visit Downtown Disney after work. It sounded pretty cool, so I did.
After being lost for about an hour, I made it there. It's located right in the Disneyland resort, and it's basically a nice outdoor mall, Disney-style. No expense is spared and it's just nice as heck. I had dinner at an outdoor bar/cafe called Uva. The service was horrible, and the food overpriced, but otherwise was very good. While traversing the shops, I passed the monorail. It led from there to Tomorrowland in the Disneyland park. It was so tempting to just fork over the $50 admission price to see that park which I haven't seen in years. I didn't simply because I wouldn't have the time to properly enjoy it. I didn't think I'd be so thrilled by Disneyland, and it took me by surprise, but now I want to go back! At least I know that if I don't go this week, I'll definitely go when I come back in November for a conference that's actually at Disneyland.
California is nice. The weather has been amazing, and the people are really nice. I think I come off more like an asshole just because that's how we in Texas are. Just kidding. The two-hour difference is weirder than I thought it'd be. It's like the day never ends because my own internal clock thinks it's two hours later. It'll be hell when I get back to Houston, since I'll have to get used to doing things two hours earlier. Anyways, I don't know when I'll post again, but I know it'll be eventually! :)
